Strepsils Original Lozenges are part of the classic Strepsils range, formulated to provide soothing relief from sore throat symptoms while helping to tackle the underlying infection.
According to Strepsils’ official information, each lozenge contains two antiseptic agents:
- Amylmetacresol
- 2,4‑Dichlorobenzyl Alcohol
These active ingredients work together to:
- Help kill bacteria associated with sore throats and mouth infections.
- Provide local relief of pain and discomfort in the throat.
- Soothe the throat with a pleasant, warming flavour (the “Original” taste).
By slowly dissolving in the mouth, Strepsils Original coat the mucous membranes of the throat, allowing the antiseptics to act where they are needed and giving short‑term relief from symptoms such as soreness, scratchiness and irritation.
Typical use (per official guidance; always check your country’s leaflet):
- Adults and children over a specified age (often 6 years and above) can dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2–3 hours, up to the maximum daily number of lozenges stated on the pack.
- The lozenges are for short‑term use only; if symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by high fever, difficulty swallowing, or other worrying signs, you should seek medical advice.
Important notes
- For oral use only; do not give to very young children who might choke on lozenges.
- Do not exceed the maximum number of lozenges per day indicated in your local instructions.
